1776

Musicals are the best! With music, dancing, and a story, whats not to love? Of the many, many wonderful musicals I know of, near the top of the list is 1776. It is about history, it is funny, and it has a powerful message.

1776 is a musical about the writing of the declaration of Independence. My very favorite subject in school is history. Seeing and listening to 1776 is fun because it brings two things that I love together: history and music.

The songs and dialogue in 1776 are very witty. Using sarcasm and outright jokes, the songs are easily remembered and are fun to sing along with. My favorite song is the one where John Adams is trying to get someone to write the declaration.

The main message of 1776 is to never give up, and stand for what you believe in. John Adams, who is obnoxious and disliked, never gives up his hopes for Independence even when people tell him to give up. He even sings a song about it!

1776 uses history and hilarity to teach us that winners never quit and quitters never win. I've grown up with this musical and have learned many lessons from it. If you haven't seen it, you should.

I too love this play, though probably not as much as you. My grandparents took us to this play when I was in 6th or 7th grade. It was pretty fun!
